THE COVENANTED CAR 2

Episode 2

It was in an uncompleted building. Henry stood across the room, close to the window frame and puffed on the big brown London cigarette; filling the room with its smell and clouded it with the thick smoke. Engineer Kola Cole could hardly breathe under such condition. Though tied heavily, he often covered his nose with his palms, hoping Henry would even take a break or excuse himself. Henry's eyes were become reddened and not ready to forgive anybody. Even if he got a contract to subtract his parents from the earth at that very point, he would do anything for money.

"If you're dreaming a miracle can save you or the police will come from nowhere to deliver you, it will be better you wake up. Because such will never happen here." Stanley entered the room with some green bottles of Trophy and drugs, containing high percentage of codeine. Stanley was a short man, in his middle thirty, the same as Henry, whose difference was his unending height. Henry bent to take the bottles from Stanley and puffed again at him, to his very face, and Stanley, excitedly, widened his mouth to gup it all. That was fun to them.

"This man is staying too long here." Stanley said, pointing to Cole, and staggering on a single spot. "Can't we just subtract him?"
"Fool." Henry said, and knocked Stanley's bare head. "We wasted a lot of our resources before we could grab him. Maudi nearly lost his hell-designed life to this man's bullet. Moreover, our client hasn't paid us yet." He paused, and turned his brutal face to Cole, "Excuse me. What ordinary citizen carries a gun around? What?" He shouted, landing some thundering slaps on his face, and gave him some life remembering beatings. Stanley was about joining Henry in the beating but there was a rather quiet sound of a car's engine.

"Go and check what that is." Henry ordered Stanley. He jiggled his legs to the other room, which was the kitchen, to have a clear view of the visitor. He recognised the driver. He brought the other man at the back of the car the first time they met. Stanley returned to the other room where Henry was. "Client." He simply said, when Henry demanded who it was. "That was not the end." He prepared Cole's mind. "As soon as I receive your life's alert, I will make sure I get Maudi's bullet out of you." Cole cringed under his threat, his sweats were been dried by the heat of the smoke Henry occasionally puffed.

"You're welcome, my Honorable." Henry greeted, with a brief bow. "Nice meeting you again, Henry." Honorable Sola Cole said. "It endurance meeting you, honorable. I always felt like subtracting that man from the surface of the earth for shooting one of my boys."
"He did?" Honorable Sola Cole raised his brow, surprised. "I'm sorry I underestimated him. If not, I would have asked you to see that coming." He said, "I hope your boy survived the bullet."
"He's over there" Henry pointed to a room around a corner of the building. "He's receiving treatment there."
"Receiving treatment? You also have a personal doctor?"
"Personal doctor?" Henry said, raising his shoulders, and wondered why he should have a doctor who could betray them anytime. Doctors were not trained to keep secrets outside the walls of their hospitals. "Nope. We kidnapped a nurse."
"And you planned to retain her, right?" Honorable asked. Henry bit his lips, wished he could smack him on the face for his stupid questions. Couldn't he just face his business and pay and leave? He formed a fake enduring smile on his face. "Nope. We can't even keep her alive. She would have known too much." He replied. "So, please, can we just go down to your business, the reason you're here?"

Kola Cole found a knife which Stanley had carelessly dropped on the floor and reached for it. He dragged himself on the rough floor, and rushed to get it. If there was any opportunity to escape, that could be it. Footsteps were heard, and he quickly hid the knife between his hands behind him and dragged himself back to hus position. His heart skipped when his eyes caught his own younger brother, Sola Cole. Sola had a smirk on his face, predicting his loss. He got a plastic stool from Stanley and sat before him. Fear was the sweat filled on Kola's face. He cringed and dragged himself away from him. He had always known his brother capable of doing evil. He just thought there could be no one else in the city to order for his kidnap other than Sola.

"And what is this about?" He sobbed.
"You know, Cole. Or what else could call for this litle party?" He said. "Where is it?"
"What?" He asked, still sobbing quietly. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Really?" He said, and signaled to Henry who landed another set thunderous slaps on his face.
"I can't tell you where it is." Cole cried. "Go to hell."
"Like seriously, brother?" Sola said. Henry was about to deliver again when Sola stopped him, and excused him. He moved the stool closer to him, and held out an handkerchief which he used to wipe Cole's sweats and blood on his face. "It's just you and I now, Cole. I'm not going to ask you again. Tell me where our father's gold field is before I lose my temper." Cole still remained dumb.

Sola realised Cole was not going to talk unless he got his wife and children to get him talking. He left the room to get Henry, and Cole resumed to the knife and the rope he was tied with.

**************************

Kelvin ran out of the restaurant, and after his mad old lady. The car bent toward a sloppy landed area. Kelvin took a short cut between the street blocks. He soon leveled with the car but in opposite blocks. He ran as fast as the car was, and held his breathe. The old lady suddenly screeched, with an halt before an uncompleted building. Kelvin gasped for some minutes beside the old lady before he started hitting it with his fist, angrily. 'Get behind the building, now' an inner voice said to him. He recognised the voice as he was used to it. That was the old lady's spirit in him. He rushed through the nearby bush and got behind the uncompleted building.

Henry raised his brow. "Stanley!" He called loud. "What's that noise? Go check." He ordered and pulled out his short gun. "Stay here, honorable." Henry followed the Stanley's track down the stairs while Sola slowly walked to where Cole was. Sola was astonished not to find Cole where he had left him. Unaware, hiding Cole pushed him from behind and hit him on the head with a bottle of Trophy. His leg had been hit by Henry when he was been captured, so he limped out of the room, looking out for Henry and Stanley. Cole limped past the store and jumped through the window and fell on his side. "Help me" he cried, seeing a strange man hiding cowardly by the building. Kelvin rushed to help him, and helped him up. They took the thick bush behind because Henry and Stanley were at the main entrance of the building.

The old lady made several turnings before Henry and Stanley, making it obvious to them that there was no driver in it. "What's this madness all about, Stan?" Henry asked, cowardly. The old lady soon stopped and faced the two. "It has no driver, Henry. I think the police are behind this and are close by." Stanley cringed. The car reversed some inches back and sped to the right, to the other end of the street, and ran into Kelvin and Cole, swinging the back door opened to them. "Get inside!" Kelvin shouted, and pushed Cole inside. He also rushed in. He was about closing the door when an hand held the door back.
