WAGES OF SIN 14
EPISODE FOURTEEN
"What
happened to her?" Jamie asked again, afraid if she did something wrong in
school and was beaten till she fainted.
"Something"
Elizabeth replied, with a bright look on her face. "She's no more the
David youv used to know."
"I
don't get" Jamie said, anxiously. "What do you mean?"
Elizabeth
smiled as she collected her big brown school bag from Debby, "You will get
to know when she wakes up."
**********************************************************
David slept for a very long time before she
opened her eyes. Jamie wouldn't leave her side since Elizabeth and Debby left.
She loved her baby, she admired her daughter. David, despite her misconducts and
strange acts, remained precious to her parents, Jamie especially. David's eyes
met with her mother's. Jamie threw her arms round her neck and embraced her closely,
kissing her forehead. "My love."
A wave of spiritual current swept the room,
a vibratory tone slightly shook the ground unrecognized as David rose from her bed,
perceiving a weight upon her shoulders, her face felt watery with no sign of steam.
She heard some strange words, perceiving a great call, saying, "Help us,
we need you. Help us." She beat her ear and would cover it with her hands.
Her hearts began to throb and became restless. She knew she was no more the
troublesome David she used to know or be. The memories of her past evil life
seeped into her mind and she felt bad, tears flowing like streams out of her eyes.
Jamie recalled Elizabeth's words, "She's no more the David you used to know."
Of course, no one would deny the fact that David
had had an encounter, a life changing one. Her behaviour, attitude, all about
her could be well noticed. Truly, with God, nothing is impossible. God designed
her life to affect as many as possible. A lot of lives have been delineated
from God and needed to be restored back. God was counting on David to help
those who needed help to find the true life. It was left with David either to
manifest and explore the great gifts and assignments God had laid in her hands
or not, but what really must count was for those needy to be helped.
For the first time in the history of Bethel
High College, the rules and principles that guided the growth and movement of
the school were reviewed because of the manifestations of David that kept
everyone in muse. Students could now pray in Jesus' name and observe the Friday
Christian devotion. One could pray for the healing of others and mentor one
anonther. It was high time BHC went on a spiritual rogue for the good. David soon
became the school favorite in all ramifications, as everything that had to do
with her changed so soon.
What about the Bethel Baptist Church where
she attended with her parents? David joined the church choir and enrolled for the
musical training class where she could learn to play all kinds of musical
instruments. Who would have allowed troublesome David filled with different strange
acts joined the church choir in the first place, but everyone not blind could
see that David was a new being, a new creature in Christ Jesus. David, surely
had had an encounter. Selected to lead the children's choir of teen ages on one
special Sunday was a life opportunity for David depict the One who now resided
in her, the Holy Spirit.
As she took the microphone from the glassy pulpit,
she lowered her head, revealing the middle of her head. A mighty quiet wind
blew across the auditorium. Her tone was quiet, the music solemn and every word
pierced through the bones of every being within the congregation. Tears flowed from
men and women's faces as David sang with grace the hymn, Amazing Grace.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see...When we’ve been there
ten thousand years...
The rendition was gracious and wonderful.
Many received hope of living, facing tomorrow, broken hearts were fixed and joy
restored. The pastor dragged his legs to the altar, Kenneth felt there was no more
any need to still preach that morning. The rendition David led already explained
and manifested the whole sermon. Kenneth removed his small handkerchief from
his pocket and wiped his face. Staying there for some minutes, yet only few
recognised that the pastor had mounted the altar. Everyone was in sober mood,
in the heart of repentance. Some praying in their heart, their mouths barely
moving. Mopping sticks would be needed to clean the tears on the floor of the auditorium.
A visitor just entering the church premises
would know something strange was happening in the auditorium. The youths in the
church, especially those who had been to campuses and had received the Holy
Spirit and the gift of speaking in tongues broke into tongues speaking; speaking,
praying and prophesying. The atmosphere changed, the clouds formed, and slight
dark clouds could be observed in the sky; God to rain some blessings.
Unfortunately, it was the same Sunday the
Holy Spirit was having a great manifestation of Himself through David that the
evil ones set to attack, it was that Sunday the Boko Haram resurgent planned to
break in and destroy everything at the Bethel Baptist Church.
Some vehicles drove violently into the church
compound and the supposed usher-to-be-police went on rogue too. Gun shots were
heard from outside the auditorium and everyone in the Spirit quickly returned
to their normal sense. Those speaking in tongues gradually their voice and their
words steadily diminished. Those in sober mood brightened their faces and put
their faces against the ground as the terrorists banged into the auditorium. Everyone
knelt and laid their faces on the ground with fear and trembling at the order
of the terrorists leader, but someone wouldn't obey. David remained sitted at
the choir stand, undisturbed and unnoticed.
